Farm and Resource Management Spreadsheet (FARMS)
Farm Transition Planning is challenging, in part, because of the need to collect and organize asset information. Without knowing what assets are owned, the value of the assets and how the assets are titled, farm transition planning becomes more of a guessing game rather than a specific plan. FARMS (developed by Robert Moore and David Marrison) provides a template to assist with the identification, valuation and titling status of your assets in an organized manner using Microsoft Excel. FARMS also allows you to collect other information critical to the farm transition process such as identifcation of executors and trustees, funeral instructions and advisor information. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, FARMS allows you to use the asset information to run different scenarios for your assets to determine the best distribution plan for your farm transition plan.
Accessing FARMS
Thank you for your interest in downloading the Farm and Resource Management Spreadsheet (FARMS). To receive access to the spreadsheet, we ask you to
1) Watch the short (40 minutes) training video available here: Initial FARMS Training Video or attend one of the Zoom sessions listed below
and
2) Complete a short survey to help us report back to the North Central Risk Management Education Center for the grant we received to help educate farmers and professionals, available here: Training Evaluation. When you have completed the evaluation, you will receive information from our team on how to download the spreadsheet.
